On June 9, 2007, teams from around Estonia gather in Narva to compete in an all-American tradition: the soap box derby. The event, hosted by the NGO Center of Creative Development and Leisure ‘Gagarin’ with support from U.S. Embassy Tallinn, brought together over 1,000 spectators and 18 participants, including one Estonian team from Russia. The first-ever Estonian derby boasted creative carts and racers from ages 6 to 60 competing for the top prize in their age bracket. The derby has since become an annual tradition.
